Analysis Scientist – Machine Studying — Penn State Meteorology and Atmospheric Science

The Cooperative Institute for Analysis in Environmental Sciences (CIRES) on the College of Colorado Boulder is searching for a Analysis Affiliate to supply machine studying scientific and meteorological experience for the NWS/Climate Prediction Middle (WPC) and the OAR/Earth Techniques Analysis Laboratory (ESRL). The incumbent will function a Machine Studying/Information Scientist for the WPC.

WPC is positioned in Faculty Park, MD, throughout the NOAA Middle for Climate and Local weather Prediction (NCWCP). The NCWCP is a extremely collaborative atmosphere containing a number of NOAA organizations, together with the Environmental Modeling Middle (EMC), Ocean Prediction Middle (OPC), and Local weather Prediction Middle (CPC). The incumbent will work together with Federal WPC employees, NOAA scientists and forecasters, CIRES staff working at WPC, and externally funded researchers to facilitate the transition of recent science to NWS forecast operations and companies. This place requires the incumbent to design, develop and/or consider AI/ML capabilities, develop and suggest new options, gather, preserve and analyze information, and conduct analysis leading to proof of ideas demonstrating the automation of AI workflows.
